Billing, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated: 7 June 2026

This policy explains how billing, trials, cancellations and refunds work for Dignita, and your rights under South African consumer law.

Template — not legal advice

Dignita provides this as general information, not legal advice. This document is a template that must be reviewed by a qualified South African legal professional, and finalised with our registered entity details, before it is relied upon.

1. Pricing & subscriptions

  • Core free tools are available without payment.
  • Premium features are offered on a subscription. The current price and billing interval are shown in the app before you subscribe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
  • Payments are processed securely by PayFast. We do not store your full card details.

2. Free trial

We may offer a free trial of premium features. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription may begin and be charged on the terms shown when you signed up. You can cancel at any time during the trial from your billing settings.

3. Cooling-off rights (ECTA & CPA)

Your statutory cooling-off right

Because you subscribe online, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives consumers a cooling-off period (generally 7 days) to cancel certain electronic transactions without reason or penalty, subject to the exceptions in the Act. The Consumer Protection Act also provides cancellation and cooling-off rights in defined circumstances.

Where a cooling-off right applies, we will refund amounts paid for the cancelled period, less any amount lawfully retained for services already supplied at your request.

4. How to cancel

  1. Go to your billing settings in the app and choose to cancel, or email us at [SUPPORT EMAIL].
  2. Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep premium access until the end of the current paid period.
  3. We will confirm your cancellation by email.

5. Refunds

Our approach to refunds:

  • Cooling-off cancellations are refunded as set out above.
  • Outside a cooling-off period, subscription fees for the current period are generally non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund — for example if the service was not supplied, or was materially defective.
  • If you were charged in error, or believe you are entitled to a refund, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will investigate promptly.

Refunds are made to the original payment method via PayFast and may take a few business days to reflect.

6. Your consumer rights

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002. Where those rights conflict with anything here, the law prevails.

7. Contact
